How to Install Siniat Plasterboard
Installing plasterboard properly is essential for a long-lasting, high-quality finish. This guide walks you through installing Siniat plasterboard on walls and ceilings — whether you're a DIY renovator or a professional tradie.
What You’ll Need
- Siniat plasterboard
- Siniat Acrylic Stud Adhesive
- Utility knife, T-square, and tape measure
- Broadknife (38mm)
- Drill/screw gun or hammer
- Screws/nails (as per timber or steel framing)
- Metal corner bead
- Staple gun, tin snips, and platform ladder
- Plasterboard lifter (for ceilings)
Step 1: Prep the Frame
- Check that studs and ceiling joists are spaced at max 600mm centres.
- Ensure all framing is level and free of nails or grease.
Step 2: Install Ceiling Plasterboard First
- Apply adhesive daubs 200–230mm apart, starting 200mm from the sheet ends.
- Fix the sheet across the joists, avoiding the adhesive when screwing or nailing.
- Secure edges and centres. Stagger joins across sheets and back-block if needed.
Step 3: Install Wall Plasterboard
- Apply adhesive to studs at 300mm intervals (start 200mm up from floor).
- Press sheets into place and fasten along edges and centres with screws or nails.
- Stagger joins across different sheets for strength.
Extra Tips
- Leave a 10mm gap from floor to sheet to avoid moisture transfer.
- Use moisture-resistant plasterboard in bathrooms and laundries.
- Use back-blocking for large ceiling joints to prevent sagging.
- Cut boards by scoring the face, snapping, then trimming the back paper.
